This custom cocobolo hourglass is handcrafted from solid cocobolo wood grown in Central America. A beautiful wood, it's denseness makes it very strong and durable and it finishes very smoothly. The color is a variegated yellow-orange, dark red with irregular black stripes. Like all wood cocobolo varies in graining and color - with some hourglasses the black stripes are more prominent, in others the yellow-orange color is more prominent. No two are alike. Combined with glass bulbs hand-blown in England, this classic piece is stunning.
As with all wood each piece will vary slightly in graining and color making each hourglass unique. Hourglasses are handmade so sizes are approximate.

IMPORTANT: Signature Collection hourglasses are sent insured. If you are not there to sign for it the package will be taken to your local post office for pickup and you will have a week to do so. Unclaimed packages are sent back to us which will result in extra shipping charges.
Shipping Information
Shipping is included to all our Continental U.S. customers (extra shipping will apply to Alaska and Hawaii). Our Signature Collection hourglasses are made when ordered and are shipped Insured, Priority Mail and generally arrive in 7-10 business days from time of order. Since they are insured your postal carrier may require a signature. If you are not there to sign for it and it stays at the post office for more than a week it will be sent back to us resulting in higher shipping costs. Please enter your shipping address carefully. If any address corrections are necessary after shipment customers will be charged the corrections fee. Due to the much higher cost of shipping outside the United States, shipping costs will be charged to our international customers.As with all international orders there will be customs fees upon delivery. If you refuse to pay the customs fees upon delivery the hourglass will get shipped back to us and you will be responsible for all shipping charges and restocking fees.
Returns Information
We package our hourglasses very well to insure against breakage. If your hourglass arrives broken or otherwise defective you have the option of either exchanging your hourglass OR a full refund at no cost to you. IMPORTANT: All packages must be opened and inspected within 48 hours of receipt to report damages and defects. This allows us to submit claims with our carrier and supplier. Please contact us for instructions on how and where to ship your hourglass.
Returns for any other reason (don't like the color, style, etc.) will be handled as follows: Item must be returned to us within 20 days of receipt in perfect sellable condition after which your purchase price, less the cost of shipping the item to you originally and a 15% restocking fee, will be refunded to you. Refunds will not be processed without a return authorization so please contact us prior to returning your hourglass to obtain your RA. Refused deliveries are subject to the same fees. I'm sorry we cannot except returns for buyers remorse for the 11x25" sizes.
For exchanges customer is responsible for the shipping costs and any difference (if exchanged for hourlgass that costs more) but no restocking fee will be charged. If exchanged for hourglass that is less expensive the difference will be refunded to the customer. Exchanged item must be returned in perfect sellable condition. Please contact us before returning any hourglass for instructions on how to safely ship your hourglass. NO RETURN, EXCHANGE OR REFUNDS ON SPECIAL ORDERS (i.e. engraved hourglass, special timer etc).

I don't think this hourglass could be improved in any way. It times exceedingly close to one hour (usually within 30 seconds) and it's a really relaxing way to make sure I don't spend too long wasting time. There's no anticipation of a harsh alarm sound, and all it takes to check how much time is left is a glance. The hourglass is also beautiful and it's very relaxing and enjoyable just watching the sand flow from one chamber to the other. The wood is a magnificent colour – I've never seen anything like it. Beautiful craftsmanship. Very sturdy. A great thing to add to my collection of timepieces.Service Comments:

I very much wanted an hourglass, both for decoration in my office and for functional use. I tried a couple cheaper ones, but they were...well...cheap. Didn't fit together well. Didn't measure anywhere close to an hour. My Cocobolo hourglass is gorgeous and solidly put together. It runs for 58.5 minutes. This is a beautiful and elegant hourglass! I have been wanting a well made wood and glass hourglass for its natural elegance and anachronistic qualities. This hourglass is a work of art that well fits my desires. The glass globes are hand-blown and therefore subject to small imperfections. Not always, but a few times, my hourglass has had the last minute of sand get stuck, and a gentle tap corrects this. This is not a problem to me as this is common to older hourglasses (I'm sure that modern mass-produced manufactured hourglasses rarely have this happen, but again, I did not want a modern mass-produced manufactured anachronistic timepiece!). We purchased this hourglass with a 1 hour globe to fill during our wedding sand ceremony (our wedding was 8/28/2011). It's a stunning product--and the wedding photos turned out fantastic. The only downside was difficulty in finding sand that worked as the globe that came with sand was not available in our timeframe. Customer service recommended the sand from sandsationalsparkle; however we discovered that the sand stuck to the sides of the hourglass and did not flow properly. We finally found some sand that worked from our local craft store; however the flow time is way less than the hour advertised for the globe we purchased (in fact less than 30 minutes).Service Comments:

This hourglass is very nice looking. The wood and workmanship is wonderful. It is solidly built and entirely made of the high quality cocobolo wood. The product is initialed and dated lightly on the base indicating it was build basically to order right after I ordered it. I had previously purchased an hourglass off of amazon. I guess you get what you pay for. It was basically a mass produced piece of junk. It wasn't real wood, at least not entirely, it would rarely not get stuck and wasn't remotely close to accurate. It also had a loose spindle. I sent that back and got this one. This one may cost more but you can see the difference. You can tell it is very well made and a lot of pride goes into the product. It does get stuck occasionally, and there is a little bit of sand on one of the sides between where the glass meets the base. Those are my only complaints. No, its not 100% accurate either, but its fairly close and it is a unique and beautiful piece. 4.5/5Service Comments:
