Made from recycled industrial artifacts from the World War II era, this bobbin hourglass is a historic piece of art and a beautiful addition to your decor!
This bobbin hourglass is a historic piece of art that measures 60 minutes of time. The timer is composed of antique wood spools found in abandoned textile mills in England. The spindles and wooden base were used from 1939-1945 during World War II in a factory in Barrowford Mill, Nelson. These particular spools held tire cord for the Morris and Austin Car Groups. The spindles were pewter shielded to protect the edges of the spool.
Each timer has a cotton sticker placed on its base. These stickers were made in New York in 1917 and found in cupboard in an abandoned sewing thread factory in Leek, Derbyshire.
The sand glass is mouth-blown in the United Kingdom. As with all antique and hand-made items, the colors and decorations vary slightly. We consider this to be a special part of their history and character.
Excellent purchase, fine workmanship and really cool history of construction materials!
Perfect seller and fine transaction ..... Would buy from them again!!!!1
It was a fabulous experience. The hour glass is just beautiful. I can't wait to give it to my husband.
The hourglass I bought is absolutely beautiful. The customer service was wonderful. When the first package derived the hourglass was broken but it was replaced immediately. A very good experience.
For starters, I purchased one glass and I was so pleased with it, I ordered the rest of the stock (9). Really a great piece with interesting history.
By nature, the product is fragile and the delivery carriers have repeatedly caused damage but the customer service has been outstanding! We are working together to make all 10 whole.
I have nothing but great things to about the company and the product!
I am so happy with this fine product. Communication with Customer Support was efficient, professional, and prompt. The custom engraving was exactly what I was looking for in my wedding gift to my son.
The hourglass was not properly glued to the body, and upon unwrapping it, my husband's reflex was to grab the falling hourglass before it hit the floor and shatter. I contacted Customer service and sent photos of all pieces. They are sending me pads and instructions to replace the hourglass in its place along with a video link to show how to place it properly. I am expecting the package in a few days and a hopeful for a good outcome.
