Urn Hourglasses

First popular in Europe, the idea for hourglasses to be used as urns was brought to the US by the men and women serving overseas during WWII. Hourglasses signify the passing of time, and their use as a vessel for holding our loved one's remains is a wonderful way to mark the time we shared with them.

Hourglass urns are made differently than a regular hourglass, with a larger center hole to allow the ashes to flow through. They cannot be exactly timed, due to the consistency of the cremains, and sand will need to be added to help them flow. However, an hourglass is a beautiful symbol of the passage of time, and can become a family heirloom, passed down for generations.

What's Included:

• Frame for hourglass, disassembled
• Empty glass globe for filling (holds approx 1/2-1 cup)
• Assembly Instructions
• Epoxy for sealing the glass globe once filled.

• Wood glue needed for frame (not necessary for all of them)
• Funnel
• Engraving (available separately - see options)

Any purchased sand (or beach sand if properly dried and sifted) can be added to your globe.  We sell some here for your convenience.
