Fill your own hourglass

Fill your own hourglass

Happy October!

By far the questions we receive most frequently are about the hourglasses that you can fill yourself. (see "EMPTY HOURGLASSES YOU CAN FILL" at the top of every page to see your options). They are extremely popular for weddings but we are definitely seeing an increase in our urn hourglass sales as well.  Regardless of why you wish to fill your hourglass how they work is essentially the same. The hourglass will arrive to you (disassembled in most cases) with an empty globe and the cap you will need to seal the globe once filled. Some of our hourglasses will require you to supply the wood glue necessary for completing the assembly (Signature and Bobbin timers) the rest are held together with screws. In either case they are not difficult to assemble.

If you are going to be using one of these hourglasses during your wedding this is how it works: you will partially assemble your hourglass and place the empty globe in the frame (instructions are included).  Customer pictures sent to us and posted here will give you an idea of what that looks like: https://www.justhourglasses.com/pages/wedding-sand-ceremony-kits-you-assemble  Once the hourglass is filled you will then be able to seal your globe and finish assembly BUT you won't be able to turn your hourglass over at the actual ceremony. Our hourglass kits are designed to be fully functional once they are completed and that requires sealing the globe with epoxy so the sand does not leak out once turned over. This means waiting several hours for the epoxy to cure before putting on the final endcap to your hourglass. We also highly recommend customers read through our FAQ page prior to purchase as  it is very helpful in knowing what to expect from your kit: https://www.justhourglasses.com/pages/hourglass-and-sand-timer-kit-faq  It is our goal to be as clear as we possibly can with our descriptions so our customers know what to expect when they receive their hourglass. As always we are open to suggestions and appreciate your input. Happy customers are our ultimate goal!
