Handcrafted from solid padauk wood grown in Africa, the color is reddish-brown, often with dark stripes. It is moderately hard and heavy with a medium texture and large pores and a very smooth surface. An elegant and unique wood, its color will deepen as the wood ages. If exposed to prolonged periods of direct sunlight it will turn a beautiful golden brown. Combined with glass bulbs hand-blown in England, this piece is beautiful. Makes a beautiful keepsake for your loved ones remains.
As with all wood each piece will vary slightly in graining and color making each hourglass unique. Hourglasses are handmade so sizes are approximate.
