This custom Signature Collection hourglass is handcrafted from solid ziricote wood grown in Central America. Often referred to as a "poor man's" ebony, this is a dark, very striking wood. The color is brown with irregular dark brown and black streaking. Ziricote is the most dramatic member of the Cordia genus, which grows in Central and tropical South America. It it also the heaviest, most dense wood we carry. Combined with glass bulbs hand-blown in England, this sand timer makes a bold statement in any room.

Available fully assembled (as shown) or in kit form. Kits are available with two options:
You assemble, no sand - for customers who want to add their own sand (i.e. two different colors). Note: globe provided has a larger hole to accommodate different types of sand so timer accuracy is not ensured.
You assemble, sand included - for customers who want a more accurate hourglass. The natural sand you see pictured comes with your kit.

Absolutely stunning

This piece looks great on my new desk. Incredible craftsmanship. In terms of timepieces, I usually opt for watches and digital clocks, but this hourglass is quite accurate (+70sec), and it is mesmerizing to watch. Very much a centerpiece to my desk. Thank you so much! : )

Very nice accessory

This hourglass is a very nice good quality accessory which is thought evoking soothing to watch and has been a conversation piece on many occasions. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because *every* now and then it gets stuck and the sand stops flowing but I don't use it as an oven timer so it's not really that big of a deal.

It's been a long time since I purchased this hourglass but from what I remember the service was good.
