This hourglass is beautiful. I love the zebra wood and my husband loves his gift.
I bought this for my boyfriend and had both sides engraved. The quality of the wood is excellent and the metal spindles make it spacious and brings your focus to the bulbs and sand. It is a gorgeous and well-made hourglass. Additionally, the customer service I had in ordering the hourglass and getting the engraving done according to my wishes was excellent!
I was looking for something attractive and out of the ordinary to add to my living room decor. But I was also looking for something American Made, because I am sick of everything indicating Made in China. I paid a lot more for this one than I would have paid for something made elsewhere, but fortunately I am in a position where I can "put my money where my mouth is" as we say around, when it comes to buying American Made. I experienced what I thought was an issue with it...occasionally not all of the sand will fall to the bottom half of the globe. I emailed customer service and got a prompt, friendly, courteous reply, telling me that the static electricity in homes during the cold, dry winter months could cause that, and I should wait until after winter to see if it resolves itself. If it doesn't they will send me a replacement globe. So that's what I'm doing...not very patiently waiting for spring time when I can turn off the heat, open the windows, and enjoy the fresh air...and hopefully free-flowing sand from the top half to the bottom half of the globe.
