I wanted to love this

I wanted to love this, although it was not my first choice among the hour glasses. The sturdy looking, solid wood types are sold out. This one was a default choice. Sadly, it is disappointing, and, I think, not worth the price. The base is a little thin and flimsy and, the biggest issue, the screws on the sides do not stay tightened. They come loose, which cause the hour glass not to stay flipped over. When this happens, I am able to retighten them to hold the glass in place. I wonder for how long this will work? Screws that are constantly loosening and tightening tend to get stripped and stop holding.

Despite this inferior product, I am planning to give the wood ones a chance once they are back in stock. Hopeful, I will be able to rave about that one.

I'm sorry you are unhappy with your hourglass! What you are experiencing is true of all of our rotating hourglasses - the screws can't be too tight or the hourglass will not rotate and it will require tightening on the turns to hold in place as the top becomes heavy when turned.. We've been selling this particular frame for about 15 years and haven't had any customers have issues with the screws becoming stripped so you should be good on that end :-).

50 minute hourglass

Love the hourglass, but the packaging? So substandard, it takes away from the overall product. Cheap styrofoam that goes everywhere in small particles just opening the two halves that contain the hourglass. This makes it impossible to use the packaging as a gift for someone. Why not do it right? Decent sytrofoam nesteld within a nice box that can be wrapped as a gift. I was really disappointed in the overall experience which tends to cheapen the overall company image in my opinion.

As to the packaging our main goal in packing our hourglasses is to make sure they arrive undamaged as much as possible (shipping carriers are not gentle with them). We also try to reuse the packing materials in which we receive our hourglass shipments to help keep costs low for ourselves and our customers and to reduce the environmental impact. I’m sorry you are unhappy with the experience but hope the recipient of your gift likes it!

Beautiful

I love it. Bought this as a birthday gift for my partner who's a therapist. Awesome. The hourglass is a 50 minute hourglass, but when timed, its 53 minutes (which is fine). I would definitely be buying from this seller again.
