As the Victorian cotton and woolen mills closed throughout the industrial North of England and Scotland over the last 40 years the antique wooden bobbins and shuttles left behind have been transformed into original wooden items.
These unique gifts stand the test of time and will conjure up for decades to come their past, each and every time they are viewed or handled.
This bobbin sand timer is has a ribbed edge and pewter accents with nicely contrasting purple or white sand. The white sand globe is swirled adding to its uniqueness! Each timer has a cotton sticker placed on its base. These stickers were made in New York in 1917 and found in cupboard in an abandoned sewing thread factory in Leek, Derbyshire.
As with all antique and hand-made items, the colors and decorations vary slightly. We consider this to be a special part of their history and character.
This is a beautiful hourglass. We couldn’t be happier with our purchase! Unique and elegant piece. Highly recommend :)
