As the Victorian cotton and woolen mills closed throughout the industrial North of England and Scotland over the last 40 years the antique wooden bobbins and shuttles left behind have been transformed into original wooden items.
This bobbin sand timer has unique pewter decorations and has a cotton sticker placed on its base. These stickers were made in New York in 1917 and found in cupboard in an abandoned sewing thread factory in Leek, Derbyshire.
The hourglass globe is mouth-blown in the United Kingdom. As with all antique and hand-made items, the colors and decorations vary slightly. We consider this to be a special part of their history and character.

This is my second hourglass, purchasing the first one for my daughter & son-in-law for their honeymoon beach sand.
This one for my son & daughter-in-law is so beautiful & I love the history.
Thank you so much!
Lovely piece. Very pleased. I emailed seller with a question about delivery and they were very prompt and helpful. Using this for a sand ceremony at our wedding ❤️
This hourglass was beautiful in the pictures, but even more beautiful in person. The engraving on the bottom was excellently done and we couldn't be happier with the result!
I bought this hourglass for my wife, we had collected some sand from multiple states that we have lived in over the past 10years, with no idea what we were going to do with it. I decided to get this hourglass and put the sand into it. Right from the start it was an easy experience, once purchased the order was filled and shipped to me, I received it within a few days. It came to me with simple and easy to follow instructions along with the back story of where the parts came from. It was easy to put together, and when completed it came out exactly as it should. My wife was taken aback by the beautiful gift that it is. I would recommend this to anyone as it a gift that will transcend time.
